How the Calculation Works

The converter uses kilograms as the internal base unit. It first converts the entered value into kilograms, then derives every other unit from that shared kilogram value.

A few useful reference relationships are:

• 1 ounce = 0.028349523125 kilograms
• 1 stone = 6.35029318 kilograms
• 1 ton = 1000 kilograms

Here, ton means the metric ton. It does not switch between short ton and long ton.
